More details from petition creator
Hundreds of people from Horley are working at Gatwick Airport. Airport is open 24/7 a whole year through. In Horley for about 8 months after midnight till 5am there is no streets lights on. This situation is making Horley area a very unpleasant and potentially dangerous during those 5 hours of completely darkness. Many workers like airport security, cabin crew, cleaners and many more finishing or starting their jobs during those hours. Council tax we are paying is very high - one of the highest in the country and we've deserve safe and comfortable life in this area. If you feel unsafe, unsecure please sign the petition to have street lights on during the night without any restriction.

Additional information about this rejection:
Thank you for submitting your petition. I have redirected the petition to be considered by Surrey County Council as it was their decision to turn off the street lights during the night in Horley. Surrey County Council have asked the Borough Council if it would like to take the opportunity to pay for them to be reinstated. However as the decision to turn them off was made by Surrey County Council I have asked that they consider your petition as it is in effect a request to reverse that decision that the petition is seeking.
